Brewing an English Ordinary Bitter, here is the recipe I use:
Buckingham Bitter
6 lbs. Maris Otter Pale Malt
8 oz. Crystal Malt (20L)
6 oz. Crystal Malt (80L)
4 oz. Biscuit Malt
.65 oz. East Kent Goldings- First Wort
.55 oz. East Kent Goldings- 60 min.
.5 oz. Fuggles- 20 min.
Whirfloc tablet- 10 min.
.5 oz. East Kent Goldings- 10 min.
.5 oz. Fuggles- flameout
.4 oz. East Kent Goldings- flameout
Wyeast #1469 West Yorkshile Ale Yeast
Mash at 152 for 60 minutes. Add First Wort hops during 2nd runnings (I batch sparge).
Ferment at 67 for 3 weeks and then keg at 2.5 volumes. I do not use a secondary for this beer, and it tastes great.
